Your Mind Will Resist The Magic - Do It Anyway!

comfort zone empowered fear generational healing

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the ways our minds try to keep us small — especially when we’re about to do something new, big, or a little scary.

In just a couple of weeks, I’ll be speaking at the She Rises Studios - EmpowerHer Content Day, an event designed to help women entrepreneurs capture high-quality video, photos, and marketing content for their brands. It’s a day packed with creativity, connection, and empowerment, and I get the honor of taking the stage to speak.

And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, the same weekend I’ll be filming for 100 Women of Impact, a docuseries on FenixTV highlighting women making a difference in their communities and industries.

It’s going to be a big weekend.

So naturally… my mind has already tried to talk me out of it.

When the Mind Plays Tricks on You

The funny thing is, I can give a talk in my sleep. It’s what I do. But still, the moment something feels bigger than usual — when it pushes me outside my normal routine — my mind starts whispering:

  • “It’s too much.”

  • “You’re not ready.”

  • “What if you mess up?”

Sound familiar?

It’s because our brains are wired for safety, not success. When something feels uncertain or unfamiliar, the brain sees it as a threat and tries to keep us in the zone it knows best — our comfort zone. And while comfort feels safe, it’s not where growth lives.

The Comfort Zone Illusion

The comfort zone is cozy, but it’s also a little like quicksand. You think you’re safe standing still, but in reality, you’re slowly sinking away from the life you really want.

Here’s the truth: the more we let our minds convince us something is “too big” or “too much,” the more we train ourselves to stay small. And every time we step back instead of forward, we reinforce the idea that our limits are fixed.

But the magic — the real magic — is always waiting just on the other side of discomfort.

Why This Matters

Right now, there might be something you’re thinking about doing — speaking at an event, starting a business, saying yes to an opportunity — but fear is talking you out of it.

You might be telling yourself:

  • “It’s not the right time.”

  • “I’m not good enough yet.”

  • “What if I fail?”

I want you to hear this: those thoughts aren’t proof you can’t do it. They’re just signs you’re on the edge of growth.

The fear means you’re moving toward something important.

From Me to You

If you’ve been holding back from saying yes to something that excites you — even if it scares you — consider this your nudge.

You are capable. You are ready. And the magic you’re looking for is waiting just beyond the place you feel safe.

If you want to see this in action and join me for an incredible weekend of connection, growth, and creativity, I’ll be speaking at EmpowerHer Content Day on Friday, August 22. I’d love for you to be there.
